امریکا بھارت تعلقات سے پاکستان کسی سفارتی تنہائی کا شکار نہیں، معاون خصوصی وزیراعظم

 اسلام آباد: وزیراعظم کے معاون خصوصی طارق فاطمی کا کہنا ہے کہ بھارت کی جارحانہ خارجہ پالیسی اور خطے کے ملکوں سے بڑے تجارتی اور سرماریہ کاری کے معاہدوں کی وجہ سے پاکستان کسی سفارتی سطح پر تنہائی کا شکار نہیں ہے۔

برطانوی نشریاتی ادارے کو دیئے گئے انٹرویو میں طارق فاطمی نے ان خدشات کو مسترد کردیا کہ امریکا اور بھارت کے درمیان گہری ہوتی ہوئی دوستی کا سایہ پاکستان اور امریکا کے درمیان تعلقات پر پڑ سکتا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ جب سے مسلم لیگ (ن) کی حکومت آئی ہے امریکا اور پاکستان کے تعلقات میں بہتری آئی ہے، پاک امریکا اسٹریٹیجک ڈائیلاگ بحال ہوئے ہیں جب کہ توانائی سمیت تعلیم اور دیگر شعبوں میں بھی تعلقات بہتر ہوئے۔

طارق فاطمی نے کہا کہ خطے اور بالخصوص افغانستان میں قیام امن کے حوالے سے پاکستان نے جو کردار ادا کیا اس کا امریکا بھی معترف ہے۔ نیو کلیئر سپلائی گروپ سے متعلق وزیراعظم کے معاون خصوصی کا کہنا تھا کہ پاکستان نے جوہری توانائی کے عالمی ادارے ’’آئی اے ای اے‘‘ کو مطلع کر دیا ہے کہ ہم نیوکلیئر سپلائی گروپ کے تمام تقاضوں کو پورا کریں گے جب کہ ’’این ایس جی‘‘ کو یہ بھی کہا ہے کہ پاکستان کی جوہری شعبے میں مہارت، تکنیکی تجربہ اور اس کا نیوکلیئر سیفٹی اور سیکیورٹی کا ریکارڈ ہی اس گروپ میں شمولیت کی بنیاد بن سکتا ہے۔

نیوکلیئر سپلائر گروپ میں بھارت کی شمولیت سے متعلق سوال پر طارق فاطمی نے کہا کہ نیوکلیئر سپلائر گروپ بھارت کے 1947 میں جوہری تجربے کے رد عمل میں بنایا گیا تھا جب کہ  بھارت نے ہی ایٹم بم کا تجربہ کرکے جوہری ہتھیاروں کے عدم پھلاؤ کی دھجیاں بکھیر دیں تھیں۔

اسلام آباد: پاکستان نے نیوکلیئر سپلائرز گروپ کے رکن ممالک پر زوردیا ہے کہ وہ گروپ کے غیررکن ملکوں کو رکنیت دینے کے لیے بامقصد اور بلاامتیاز ضابطہ کار پر عمل کریں۔

سرکاری خبررساں ادارے کے مطابق اسلام آباد میں پاکستان کی نیوکلیئر سپلائرز گروپ میں شمولیت کے حوالے سے ایک اجلاس ہوا جس میں بڑی تعداد میں سفارتکاروں اور دیگراعلیٰ سطح کے نمائندوں نے شرکت کی۔ اجلاس میں ایڈیشنل سیکرٹری خارجہ تسنیم اسلم نے نیوکلیئر سپلائرز گروپ کے رکن ممالک کے سفارتی مشن کو بریفنگ دی جس میں انہوں نے نیوکلیئر سپلائرز گروپ کے رکن ممالک پر زوردیا کہ وہ گروپ کے غیررکن ملکوں کو رکنیت دینے کے لیے  بامقصد اور بلاامتیاز ضابطہ کار پر عمل کریں۔

ایڈیشنل سیکرٹری نے اپنی بریفنگ میں ان حقائق کی وضاحت کی جن کی وجہ سے نیوکلیئر سپلائرز گروپ کی رکنیت کے لیے پاکستان کی درخواست کو خصوصی اہمیت حاصل ہے ان میں پاکستان کی تکنیکی مہارت صلاحیت اورایٹمی عدم پھیلاؤ کا عزم اور جوہری تحفظ اور سلامتی شامل ہیں۔ انہوں نے گروپ کی رکنیت کی غرض سے کسی ملک کے لیے استثنی کے بارے میں خبردار کیا جس سے جنوبی ایشیا کے اسٹرٹیجک استحکام پر منفی اثرات مرتب ہوں گے۔

دوسری جانب ترجمان دفتر خارجہ کے مطابق مشیر خارجہ سرتاج عزیز نے نیو کلیئر سپلائرز گروپ کے معاملے پر روس، نیوزی لینڈ اور جمہوریہ کوریا کے وزرائے خارجہ سے ٹیلی فونک رابطہ کیا جس میں تینوں ممالک کے وزرائے خارجہ نے این ایس جی میں توسیع کے لیے غیر جانبدارسوچ اپنانے کی حمایت کا اظہار کیا ہے۔

ملک میں کہیں بھی غیر اعلانیہ لوڈشیڈنگ نہیں ہورہی، وزیرمملکت پانی و بجلی کا دعویٰ

 اسلام آباد: وزیر مملكت برائے پانی و بجلی عابد شیرعلی نے دعویٰ کیا ہے کہ پورے ملك میں كہیں غیر اعلانیہ لوڈشیڈنگ نہیں ہو رہی جب کہ سحروافطار اور تراویح كے اوقات میں بھی بلا تعطل بجلی فراہم كی جارہی ہے۔

سینیٹ کے اجلاس میں توجہ دلاؤ نوٹس پر جواب دیتے ہوئے عابد شیر علی نے کہا کہ ملك میں كہیں غیر اعلانیہ لوڈشیڈنگ نہیں ہو رہی جہاں پر لاسز 80 سے85 فیصد ہیں وہاں 10 سے 12 گھنٹے كی لوڈشیڈنگ ہوتی ہے اور جہاں نقصانات 90 فیصد ہیں وہاں 18 گھنٹے لوڈشیڈنگ بھی كرنا پڑتی ہے۔

عابد شیر علی نے کہا کہ عوام كو سہولیات فراہم كرنا حكومت كی ذمہ داری ہے اور ہم اسے پورا کررہے ہیں، سحر و افطار اور تراویح كے اوقات میں بلا تعطل بجلی دی جارہی ہے جب کہ  انڈسٹری كو افطار سے سحر تك بجلی بند كی جاتی ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ جہاں لاسز 60 سے 90 فیصد ہیں ان كے سوا كہیں غیر اعلانیہ لوڈشیڈنگ نہیں كی جارہی، اس وقت بجلی كی طلب اور رسد میں فرق 4500 میگاواٹ ہے جب کہ ٹرانسمیشن لائنوں كی وجہ سے بھی مسائل ہیں۔

دوسری جانب ترجمان وزارت پانی و بجلی کا کہنا ہے کہ ملک کے 97 فیصد شہری علاقوں اور 90 فیصد دیہی علاقوں میں غیر اعلانیہ لوڈشیڈنگ نہیں ہو رہی، صرف ان دیہی علاقوں میں اس وقت لوڈشیڈنگ ہے جہاں سسٹم کا مسئلہ ہے یا کوئی مقامی خرابی ہے۔ ترجمان کے مطابق  سسٹم میں اس وقت بھی 800 میگاواٹ اضافی بجلی موجود ہے اور تمام ڈسٹری بیوشن کمپنیاں اپنی ضرورت کے مطابق بجلی سسٹم سے لے رہی ہیں۔

ترجمان نے بتایا کہ سیکرٹری واٹر اینڈ پاور یونس ڈھاگا بجلی کی دستیابی کی صورتحال کی خود نگرانی کررہے ہیں اور کہیں بھی غیر اعلانیہ لوڈشیڈنگ نہیں کی جارہی، جن علاقوں میں لاسز زیادہ ہیں وہاں پر لوڈ مینجمنٹ بھی زیادہ کی جاتی ہے۔ ترجمان کا کہنا تھا کہ موجودہ صورتحال میں عوام کو بھی بجلی کی بڑھتی ہوئی طلب کے پیش نظر بجلی کی بچت پر توجہ دینی چاہیے۔

Rangers illegally stopping party from peaceful protest: MQM

KARACHIl: Hitting back at a Rangers statement denouncing its call for a 'peaceful strike', the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Wednesday said that protesting peacefully was a legal and constitutional right of every political party.

TV reports on Wednesday quoted Director General (DG) Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar as asking citizens to not follow MQM's strike call and vowing to take action against businesses which chose to shut down.

The party had announced a ‘protest day’ on Wednesday against what they said was "misbehaviour of Rangers’ personnel" and the cordoning off the residence of party leader Farooq Sattar during a search operation in the PIB area of Karachi last night.

"To hold peaceful protests is the constitutional, legal and human right of every political party," said a statementissued by MQM Coordination Committee on Wednesday.

"MQM exercised its democratic right by appealing for a peaceful strike against Rangers' illegal and inhumane practices.

"The statement of DG Rangers against MQM's appeal for a peaceful strike is condemnable," it said.

DG Rangers had earlier clarified that the paramilitary force did not raid the house of MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar but it carried out a search operation near the MQM stalwart's residence.

Meanwhile, situation in most parts of Karachi remained normal on Wednesday and most businesses remained open as usual. Regular public transport could be seen on the roads of the metropolis.

Appeal for strike

In a late night statement, MQM’s coordination committee appealed to people to keep their businesses and transport shut across the Sindh province on Wednesday in protest against the alleged action by the paramilitary force.

MQM alleged in the statement that Rangers personnel charged the residence of Sattar and hit the gate of his house with their rifles and shoes. The statement also alleged that Rangers personnel prevented area residents from offering Taravih prayers.

"The Rangers operation in Karachi is only and only against MQM," said the statement.

Sri Lanka's Perera eyes Lord's return after doping hell

LONDON: For someone who has spent six agonising months on the sidelines battling doping allegations, Sri Lankan Kusal Perera cannot think of a better place for his return than the hallowed turf of Lord's in the third and final test against England on Thursday.

The 25-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman was sent home from the tour of New Zealand in December after it was announced he had failed a drugs test last July.

He was cleared last month when the International Cricket Council (ICC) dropped all charges against him after the Qatar-based laboratory that conducted the test withdrew its initial findings.

Perera was not allowed to train with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) coaches and was called up in England only after a shoulder injury had ended paceman Dhammika Prasad's tour.

“I haven't been told if I'm playing yet but I was thrown into trouble and to come back from that at Lord's would be a great opportunity,” Kusal told reporters at Lord's after practice on Tuesday.

“I was banned just before a Test, so to return in this format would be fitting. Even the time I was out of the team I knew I hadn't done anything wrong. But these things can happen in life.”

Perera, who has played three Tests and 51 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), admitted he arrived in England undercooked, having barely trained before a series he did not expect to be involved in.

“I didn't have any time to think about whether I was in touch, or whether I could train, or even what was happening in cricket.

“I started training the day after I was cleared. Before then I didn't do much batting — just some fitness work.”

Perera, however, felt he was fresh and striking the ball well, which might help his team salvage some pride after batting collapses in Leeds and Chester-le-Street helped the hosts open an unassailable 2-0 series lead.

“I watched the attack and it's mostly fast bowlers,” he said of England's bowlers.

“In London, the conditions seem easier, because it must have been very cold in Durham.

“When it's cold you are a bit stiff and your feet don't work as well. With this weather and given the pitch as well — which looks like it will be batting-friendly — I think there's a chance for us to dominate them.”

Fourth militant shot dead in Bangladesh in crackdown

DHAKA: Bangladesh police shot dead a militant on Wednesday, the fourth killed since a crackdown was launched against suspected militants blamed for a wave of gruesome killings, an officer said.

The 25-year-old militant was killed during a gun battle with police in northern Bogra district, where he was suspected of bombing a minority Shia shrine last year, the officer said.

Kawser, who uses one name, was the fourth member of the local Jamayetul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) killed since the crackdown on Tuesday. The banned group is blamed for dozens of murders of religious minorities and secular and liberal activists.

"Kawser was shot during a gunfight between police and JMB militants under a bridge at Shibganj in Bogra,'' Bogra district police spokesman Gaziur Rahman told AFP. He died on the way to a hospital.

"He directly took part in the bomb attack on a Shiite mosque in Bogra last October and we believe he also took part in other killing missions," Rahman said.

Three "high-ranking"' members of JMB were shot dead on Tuesday during raids by police in Dhaka and in a northwestern district, officers have said.

Bangladeshi authorities have been coming under mounting international pressure to end the string of attacks that have left nearly 50 people killed in the last three years.

In the past four days, an elderly Hindu priest, a Christian grocer and the wife of a top anti-terrorism police officer have been shot or hacked to death with machetes.

Authorities have blamed homegrown Islamists for the attacks, rejecting claims of responsibility from the militant Islamic State (IS) group and a South Asian branch of Al Qaeda.

The killings across officially secular but majority Sunni Muslim Bangladesh have surged in recent weeks and include the murder of two gay rights activists.

Experts say a ban on Bangladesh's largest Islamist party Jamaat-i-Islami following a protracted political crisis has pushed many towards extremism.

South Africa to play their first day-night Test this year

CAPE TOWN: Cricket South Africa (CSA) have overcome their initial hesitancy and confirmed on Wednesday that the third and final test of the tour of Australia will be a day-night fixture at Adelaide Oval starting on Nov. 24.

The Proteas had been reluctant to be involved in a day-night match having never played with a pink ball but with two warm-up matches under lights planned for the October-November tour, CSA said they were now willing to play the fixture.

“Following careful consideration and engagement with all our Test players, and acknowledging the need to exploit the potential of playing day-night Test match cricket, I am pleased to announce that we have agreed with Cricket Australia to proceed with this fixture,” CSA chief executive Haroon Lorgat said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Our Proteas were initially hesitant to play such a key Test match without previous experience and adequate preparation but after working through all their concerns and the possible options to prepare sufficiently, there is new-found excitement for this novel Test match.”

South Africa captain AB de Villiers added that the major concern for the players was having adequate preparation with a pink ball.

“We were never against this exciting concept but only wanted to give ourselves the best opportunity of competing in conditions that will be new and foreign to us,” he said.

“Two warm-up matches will hopefully give us an idea of what to expect and hopefully our preparations will help us to adapt accordingly.

“This will be the first time that our players in the test squad will play pink ball test match cricket in front of such a large crowd and to be part of this novel concept will no doubt be a landmark moment in all of our careers.”

Pakistan expected to play two day-night Tests this year

Pakistan are expected to host West Indies in a day-night Test in United Arab Emirates in November this year.

Earlier, CSA and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had agreed that the Gabba Test during the Pakistan's tour of Australia towards the end of this year will be day-night.

The first day-night Test was played between Australia and New Zealand in Adelaide last year and drew 124,000 spectators despite only lasting three days.

The highest score in all four innings was 224, with Australia winning by three wickets.
